No accounts, no ads, no tracking. The details, in plain English.

Error Slayer ("the App", "we", "us") is a grammar practice game published by Mikheil Gogilava ("the Developer"). This policy explains what information the App handles, what it does not handle, and the choices you have. We have written it to be read, not skimmed: it is short because the App does very little with your data.
The short version: Error Slayer has no accounts, no advertising, no in-app purchases, no analytics and no tracking. Your progress is stored on your own device. The only data that ever leaves your device is (1) the technical information your phone sends when it downloads a set of flashcards from our server, and (2) your scores and achievements if you choose to sign in to Apple's Game Center.
The data controller for the App is:

If you have any question about this policy or about your data, write to that address. We answer within 30 days.
To avoid any doubt, the App does not:
If a future version of the App ever changes any of the above, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent inside the App.
The App keeps a small amount of information on your phone or tablet so that the game works:
This information never leaves your device, is not visible to us, and is deleted when you delete the App. It is not linked to you as a person.
Reminders (optional). If you turn reminders on, the App schedules short notifications on your device itself (for example, a daily reminder to play, or a note after a few days away). These are local notifications: they are created and delivered entirely by your phone, we do not operate a notification server, and nothing about you is sent to us or to anyone else. The App only asks for notification permission after you choose to turn reminders on, and you can turn them off at any time in the App's Settings or in your device's notification settings.
The App's flashcards are stored on a server so that we can add and correct them without publishing a new version of the App. When the App fetches a set of cards, your device makes an ordinary internet request to that server, exactly as a web browser does when it opens a page. That request necessarily carries:
This information is received by our hosting provider, Supabase, Inc. (see section 6), and is held in its standard server logs for security purposes, to detect abuse and keep the service running. We do not use it to identify you, build a profile of you, or contact you, and we do not combine it with any other data. Log entries are kept only for the period our hosting provider's standard logging allows, after which they are deleted.
The request does not include your scores, your progress, your settings or any other information from the App.
If you are offline, the App uses a built-in set of flashcards and makes no request at all.
The legal basis for this processing, where one is required, is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
The App can show a leaderboard and achievements through Apple Game Center. This only happens if you are signed in to Game Center on your device; the App never asks you to create a Game Center account and works fully without one.
If you are signed in, the App sends your game score and the achievements you have earned to Game Center, and Game Center shows them to you and, according to your own Game Center settings, to your friends. Apple, not the Developer, operates Game Center, stores this data, and decides who can see it. The App receives from Apple only what it needs to display the leaderboard to you.
Apple's handling of Game Center data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ . You can sign out of Game Center, or restrict it, at any time in your device's Settings; the App will then stop sending scores.
We use exactly two outside companies to run the App:
| Provider | What it does for the App | Data it receives | Its privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. (United States) | Hosts the flashcard database the App downloads from | IP address and technical request details (section 4) | https://supabase.com/privacy |
| Apple Inc. | Distributes the App through the App Store; operates Game Center | What you choose to share with Game Center (section 5), and whatever Apple itself collects as the App Store operator | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
Neither provider is permitted to use data from the App for its own marketing. We have no other processors, partners, resellers or "data brokers".
Our hosting provider, Supabase, stores the flashcard database and its server logs in the data-centre region selected for our project, which may be outside the country you live in. If so, the technical information in section 4 is transferred there. Supabase provides standard contractual safeguards for such transfers. Game Center data is handled by Apple according to Apple's own policies.
The App is a general-audience educational game. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children of any age; the App has no mechanism for anyone to submit personal information to us. Game Center for users under 13 is controlled by Apple's parental-control features, not by the App. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information in some way we have not foreseen, write to the address in section 1 and we will delete it.
The App communicates with our server only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The App's connection to the database is read-only: it can download cards and cannot write, change or delete anything. Data on your device is protected by your device's own security (passcode, Face ID, encryption).
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; but because the App holds almost no data about you, the consequences of any incident are correspondingly small.
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or similar laws), you may have the right to:
In practice, the only personal data we could hold is an IP address in a server log, which we cannot link back to you. Everything else is on your device: to delete it, delete the App. To exercise any right, write to the address in section 1; we may ask you for enough detail to locate the data concerned.
We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months, in the meaning of the CCPA. We do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
The App contains a link to our Instagram page and a link to this policy. Tapping them opens the Instagram app or your web browser, which are outside this policy and governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for the content or practices of other sites.
We may update this policy when the App changes or the law changes. The current version is always available at https://errorslayer.com/privacy.html, and the date at the top tells you when it was last changed. If a change materially reduces your privacy, we will give notice inside the App before it takes effect.
